Avermectin Trunk Injections: A Promising Approach for Managing the Walnut Husk Fly (Rhagoletis completa)
نویسندگان
چکیده
This study examined the larvicidal effect of trunk-injected abamectin and emamectin benzoate against walnut husk fly (Rhagoletis completa Cresson, 1929). Walnut trees in two locations years were injected with pesticides at different concentrations. For toxicokinetic studies, active ingredient content was measured leaves, flowers, husks, kernels, using a UHPLC-MS/MS analytical method. The infestation rates between 3 70% 10 34% for benzoate, respectively, much lower compared to those control. showed positive correlation effect. injections had measurable but unsatisfactory insecticidal second year, when economic threshold exceeded. Trace amounts ingredients detected flowers. residue analysis declining concentration trend leaves over time. largest quantities (≤439 ng/g abamectin; ≤19,079 benzoate), concentrations husks orders magnitude (≤5.86 ng/g; ≤50.19 ng/g). measurements no above MRLs either fresh or dried kernels. results indicate that trunk abamectin, as well have potential suppress populations.

POPULATION ECOLOGY Host Utilization by the Walnut Fly, Rhagoletis juglandis (Diptera: Tephritidae)
Rhagoletis juglandis Cresson is a specialist that deposits its eggs into the husks of developing walnut fruit. Like other walnut infesting ßies in the R. suavis group, R. juglandis actively superparasitizes its larval hosts. However, little is known regarding the degree to which hosts are reused and the ecological context under which host reuse occurs. This Þeld study examined the pattern of ho...
متن کاملExpressed Sequence Tags from Cephalic Chemosensory Organs of the Northern Walnut Husk Fly, Rhagoletis suavis, Including a Putative Canonical Odorant Receptor
Rhagoletis fruit flies are important both as major agricultural pests and as model organisms for the study of adaptation to new host plants and host race formation. Response to fruit odor plays a critical role in such adaptation. To better understand olfaction in Rhagoletis, an expressed sequence tag (EST) study was carried out on the antennae and maxillary palps of Rhagoletis suavis (Loew) (Di...
متن کاملOvarian dynamics in relation to host quality in the Walnut-infesting Fly, Rhagoletis juglandis
1. Reproductive behaviour is routinely studied with a view towards characterizing how an animal responds to variation in resource abundance and quality. This characterization is less commonly made with respect to reproductive physiology. 2. In the Walnut-infesting Fly, Rhagoletis juglandis , ovarian development is cued by the presence of the host fruit resource. In this study, I examined how ov...
متن کاملFlight Capacity and Dispersal of Walnut Husk Flies in Laboratory and Field Studies
Although the walnut husk fly, Rhagoletis completa, is sometimes considered to be a weak flier, very little is known about the actual flight capacity of this fly. With funding from CDFA and CSU-ARI (California State University Agricultural Research Initiative), we initiated studies, in the laboratory and field, of flight capacity and dispersal ability of husk flies. Adult flies in the laboratory...
